Jay Parkinson + MD + MPH = a doctor in NYC: What happens to doctors who think outside the box?

Upon finishing my second residency at Hopkins in Baltimore in September of 2007, I moved back to Williamsburg to start a new kind of practice:

  1. Patients would visit my website
  2. See my Google calendar
  3. Choose a time and input their symptoms
  4. My iphone would alert me
  5. I would make a house call

This doctor found his livelihood almost threatened because he tried practicing direct medicine via the Internet. However, I’m glad to hear he is now creating an online platform to help other doctors build this new kind of practice. Direct medicine via the Internet could create a whole new health care industry.
